Just got back from a little press trip out to British Columbia. It is so beautiful out there and I had couldn’t have asked for better weather. I want to thank everyone that supported me on my trip and a big thanks to all of the BC producers that have come on board.

I’ll be in Montreal next and look forward to seeing old friends and meeting some of the new producers from that province who are helping us make this work.

Cheers

Casey

Note: I mentioned that The Fall would be released a couple of weeks back but I have yet to see a screening here in Canada. I’ll keep people updated as to when I know of it coming to the great white north.

Canada opens Cannes

For the first time in 23 years, a Canadian film is opening the Cannes Film Festival.

Blindness, directed by Fernando Meirelles and written by our beloved Don McKellar was produced by Canadian prod co. Rhombus Media

Sandra Oh and my friend Joris Jarsky are also part of the cast.

Atom Egoyan’s film, Adoration, is also in competition this year.

I want to wish the film makers the best of luck. Like lat year’s JUNO, these films are helping to prove to the world that Canadian cinema can hold it’s own on screens outside of the great white north.

(on a side note: I went to see Son of Rambow last night. I highly recommend this brilliant British film to movie goers of all ages. It is the best youth orientated movie I’ve seen since The Goonies. Not only are you guaranteed a laugh, but you’ll be leave the theater feeling good.)

Ladies, have you been to Venice in the last 2 years?

posted by: Casey in Casey on May 13, 2008 @ 4:30 pm | comments: 0

I got this from the BBC this morning. Too funny.

A man who allegedly photographed more than 3,000 women’s bottoms as they toured Venice has been arrested.

The man was stopped after police became suspicious of a large bag he was carrying as he followed women through St Mark’s Square.

He has been charged with infringement of privacy. It is a cheeky crime, which could earn this 38-year-old Italian from six months to four years in jail.

A police video shows a man in jeans and hooded top walking behind women.

He is trying to position his black holdall close to their legs.

Police said he was filming through a small hole in the side of the bag.

The officers had become suspicious when they realised he was only following women with short skirts. When they stopped or bent down to pick something up, he was clearly trying to angle the bag behind them.

When the voyeur was finally caught police recovered several DVDs which held more than 3,000 images of women’s bottoms.

He confessed to police he had been filming in and around St Mark’s Square for nearly two years.

Police have refused to name him but Mario Marina of Venice police said he is married with two young children and has a professional job in the nearby town of Padua.

He might have some explaining to do when he finally gets home.

A new approach to press release.

Well since this is a new business model we’re proving, I thought it would make sense to also test out new methods of distributing our message.

We’ve released our first Social Media Press Release and you can view it anytime here.

On it you can track our progress in the media, Use the “Share This” list on the right hand side to add it to your various social media pages, view a welcome note explaining the concept of the site and much more.

Go check it out and give us a hand spreading the word!

The New Site Has Officially Launched!!

posted by: Casey in MMDM news on May 8, 2008 @ 4:18 am | comments: 1

I am pleased to announce that My Million Dollar Movie.com has OFFICIALLY LAUNCHED! A big part of this new site is due to your support.

We’re now in available in 7 languages and not only have partners in North America and the UK, but Switzerland, Hungary, Brazil, China, Italy, Belgium and Brazil, making this a true international effort.

I’ve secured the services of Word Of Mouth PR to bring our message to the mainstream media in North America and The UK. However, in order to ensure our success, I still need your help.

We’ve proven this site is working but people only participate if they come to the site. Our visitor to purchase conversion is currently 30%!! That means for every 100 people that visit, we’re selling 30 frames. Traditionally, e-commerce websites are considered successful if they operate at 2%.

I need you to help me drive people to come and check out what we’re doing.

There are several ways you can do this. Email all of your friends and business colleagues telling them why you chose to participate and to check it out for themselves.
If you’re on any Social Media Site like Facebook or Myspace, write a post, or Blog, join our groups and invite your friends to do the same.

Check out my blog and use the “Add This” button on the left to bookmark the blog to various Social Media pages.

Request a press release and forward this to your local media, telling them of your participation as a producer and why they should check this out.

As one person, my voice is only so loud, but as a team, we can spread the word on a grand scale and truly make this not only an international success, but also a historical first!

I can never thank you enough for all of your support and I promise to make the funniest dam film you’ve ever seen. I’m always accessible if you have questions, comments or want to share a laugh.

Cheers
Casey
