Performance by an Actor in a Leading Role

It’s a toss up between these two, but If I was forced to pick, Rourke was pretty Boss.

He had a great speach, but the coolest part is that he recognized Rourke at the end!

Performance by an Actor in a Supporting Role

If he doesn’t win, I hope the streets run Red with academy member’s blood!

And the streets are safe… for now. My favorite role of 2008. RIP Heath.

Performance by an Actress in a Leading Role

She’s gong to have a long career so we can count on seeing her again.

Performance by an Actress in a Supporting Role

I WAS WRONG _ It went to Penelope Cruz

Everyone should see this movie, it is entertaining and has a very powerful message.

Achievement in Art Direction

Both were amazing so it is hard to decide, but Benjamin really did transport you to that world.

Seriously, the sequences of the kids in the slums is KILLER!!

Achievement in Costume Design

Should I rush out and see The Duchess because it won? Maybe I’ll watch it if I’m ever on a cruise…

Achievement in Directing

This is another hard one (no pun intended harvey) but I did find Slum Dog only slightly more engaging.

And it looks like the academy did too.

Best Documentary Feature

Yes, this movie is THAT GOOD!

Achievement in Film Editing

Maybe I should have just picked Slumdog across the board?!?!?

Honestly, it was the only one I saw in the category.

Achievement in Makeup

I thought Harvey and The Joker were worthy.

Achievement in Music Written for Motion Pictures (Original Score)

Music makes this movie.

Bummer, next time little dude.

Best Motion Picture of the Year

Was there ever any doubt?

Achievement in Sound Editing

If Wall-e wins for mixing, I’ll be pissed.

Achievement in Sound Mixing

Well if it had to loose ,Slumdog is the obvious.

Achievement in Visual Effects

Sometimes, the best effects are the ones you don’t notice. They fell in line so well with Fincher’s story telling.

This is my first right pick of the night. A no brainier really.

Original Screenplay

WRONG – It went to the Dude who wrote MILK. He did have an Awesome Speech.

Just a peak at the new Tesla Model S

Just a peak at the new Tesla Model S

It might be some time before a guy like me can afford one, but just the fact that a company has made the effort, could mean that a more affordable model might be available sooner than we think. Imagine, you could run your car off the light and wind your home captured!!

Tesla Motors won’t unveil the Model S until March 26, but the Silicon Valley start up provided a glimpse of the all-electric four-door sedan with a teaser shot it released this morning.

As for the Model S, Tesla isn’t offering much in the way of details, but Musk has likened the car to a BMW 5-Series or a Cadillac CTS. One insider we know said it will offer the practicality of a 5-series with the sexiness of an Aston Martin Rapide.

From what we see from the photo, the Model S — designed in-house after Tesla’s famous falling out with designer Henrik Fisker — looks like it draws more heavily from, say, Maserati and Aston Martin than BMW. Its also got better front-end proportions than the Fisker Karma sedan, but then Tesla isn’t stuffing a four-cylinder General Motors engine under the hood to serve as a range-extender.

Tesla says the car will go into production in 2011 and it is expected to cost less than $50,000 once you account for the $7,500 federal tax break on electric cars. That’s less than half the price of the Roadster, which goes for $109,000.

I now work for Kevin Smith!!!

Well now you can producer a movie with Kevin Smith. How is this possible you might ask?

One of our producer’s, Amy Decorte, braved the Q&A at the Bloor Cinema on Monday evening with the intent to persuade him to sign up to mymilliondollarmovie.com.
Well first he blasted me for not being there, saying he would have done it if I had come and asked personally. He then went on to advise her that, as a producer, she should have grabbed me by the balls and dragged me down there.
Well this evening, Amy did just that (although at no time did she touch my balls). We watched Dogma, which I hadn’t seen since the first time I saw it in the Theatre and I gotta say, I liked it then and I still like it now.
Amy waited again in line. When she approached the Mic, Kevin recognized her from the night before and he quickly deducted who I was. You could tell he was going to try a get out of it but quickly changed his mind. He dug deep into his pockets and told me that we would get what ever her pulled out.

I was preparing for the inevitable joke. Some lint, gum, a used condom or perhaps some timbits. But to my chagrin, out came three $20 bills!!!

Then the proud moment came when I got to shake his hand and accept the money. i handed off my card and must say, was quite thrilled. I’ve always admired Kevin’s body of work and how he has been able to stay true to himself and tell his stories while competing in the Hollywood machine.

After a beer, I decided to stick around for the final screening of the evening, Jay and Silent Bob Strike Back. As I waited in line, I thought about the last 2 years I’ve spent on this project and I have to say, It has all been worth it.

I can’t wait to make this movie and I can’t thank all of you enough for your support.

It’s late now and I really need to get back to another writing gig that is actually paying the bills right now.

What ever it is you’re doing, I wish you the best.

Cheers

Casey

P.S. here is the video version … and Kevin, if you’re reading this, I hope you like the film.

…but I believe in love. And love is what makes for the best change.

I’ve been asked why I’m supporting the “Myth” of global warming, etc.

The fact is I’m not really interested in climate change. The environment is going to be fine. It is us, humans, that are in trouble. The planet is going to balance itself out just one day. We can either keep pushing it towards that drastic change, in which our lives, as we have come to live them , will most likely end, or we can come to terms with the fact that we are not the owners of the environment, but should be caretakers of it. We, as people who care about our species and it’s continuing existence, will win in their efforts only by raising levels of awareness. Every day, people from all walks of life are doing something a little more to help out, and that’s the most important thing. Every small action has a ripple effect.

You may ask yourself, “What can I do?”

Well that’s really the first step, recognizing that you can do something. Now you must look into your heart and soul to understand where your passions and gifts lie. Now do some research and educate yourself in areas that interest you. Now find people that you feel comfortable with and get involved in their shared initiatives.

here are some good places to start:

1% for the planet

11th Hour

One Million Acts of Green

or just Google an area you’re interested in like “Clean up the Water”, “Where does my garbage go”, “The Damages of Oil”, “”Low emission vehicles”, ” Buy Local”, “Green Housing”.

The only thing that prevents us from stopping the extinction of our species is if we CHOOSE to do nothing.

It only takes a few moments a day, change a habit here and there, and efore you know it, your well on your way to helping keep our planet beautiful for future generations.

I know it sounds cliche, but it’s true, together we can make a difference. If you love this planet as much as me, then today is a great day to start doing your part.

How to Cover a Tattoo

posted by: Casey in Casey on February 2, 2009 @ 2:53 am | comments: 0

Ok, start with an old tattoo you got when you were young and stupid (ok younger and slightly dumber than you are now)

Design something meaningful that you will take with you to the grave (in this case representing my family) and get to work.

4 hours later…

Then get too busy that you go a year without doing any more work on it.
Finally, you get some time off and spend it getting some ink sunk and look at the difference. That little tattoo from your youth is gone!

Finally, after 10 hours in total, you get a nice half sleeve.

Not sure If I’ll do my back or chest next.
